In addition to one time events Equal Roots has forged a series of long-term projects and partnerships designed to create gradual and effective change for the LGBTQ community.
FAITH INITIATIVE
The Equal Roots Faith Initiative is designed to form strong relationships with just a handful of places of faith. Through supporting and working with LGBTQ-friendly places of faith we hope to build stronger ties for future struggles and to further the development of safe places of worship to LGBTQ people. By engaging in service work with places of faith that do not support full LGBTQ equality we hope to foster a greater understanding between communities and change perceptions of LGBTQ people within conservative faiths. ARTS PROJECT
Art is the first sign of a revolution and so we wish to encourage just that. Equal Roots will soon be accepting applications from artists in any medium to produce shows, concerts, galleries, installations, and beyond all in the name of furthering the movement and providing an emotional and artistic outlet for the LGBTQ community. THE DEAL WITH LABOR
Equal Roots continues to work with Unite Here to tackle corporations that have a stake in both labor and LGBTQ issues. Recently we have engaged in protests, city meetings, and management engagements concerning the San Diego Manchester Hyatt, the Long Beach Hyatt, the West Hollywood Andaz, & the not yet built West Hollywood Sunset / Doheny Development. COLAGE PARTNERSHIP
March 20th will be the very first Equal Roots / COLAGE event: a bowling event for LGBTQ activists and children of LGBTQ parents to mingle and play. DETAILS COMING SOON! For more info contact Morgan.
